Sensor & Systems Applications Engineer

Analog Devices, Inc. is seeking an Optical Sensors and Systems Applications Engineer that will help accelerate the Optical Fiber Measurement Solutions (OFMS) strategy.

The OFMS group is targeting fast-growing applications in Optical Fiber Communication and Sensing, Industrial, and ADEF markets.  These state-of-the-art sensor signal conditioning electronics produce highly differentiated sensor measurements. We need a skilled and enthusiastic system applications engineer to join this emerging team and help us build this technology and solutions portfolio.

As part of a cross-functional team, the optical sensors and systems applications engineer provides a critical link between the external ecosystem (customers, 3rd party partners, industry groups, etc.) and the internal product development teams.

Additionally, the applications engineer will play a pivotal role in ensuring customer satisfaction through technical engagement at the system level, critical problem solving, and rapid response to support requests.

Roles and Responsibilities

-Support product introduction to market and assist in customer sampling and system design support.

-Customer-facing technical support; engage customers through web query, email, visits, and conference call

-Write embedded firmware to support internal and external customers

-Design of evaluation/test/demo boards including producing technical documentation

-Development and evaluation of new algorithm/silicon/system, working with the multifunctional team, to identify, simulate and correct functional and parametric problems

-Research and select main components for system-level designs

-Stay abreast of industry trends and new technologies


-The candidate should be highly motivated, a strong independent worker, creative, and willing to learn. The candidate should possess excellent interpersonal abilities, have strong analytical and lab skills, and have an outgoing, positive attitude for customer and field sales facing interactions.

-Experience with optoelectronics, sensors, low noise analog electronics, PCB design experience, Python, LabVIEW, and/or other programming experience is beneficial.

-Experience in system-level solution development is beneficial.

-Background in design, product engineering, or applications engineering is preferred.

-Travel will be approximately 15% of the time, as appropriate.
