QUANTUM RESEARCH ENGINEER We are a small team, focused on building and shipping our first product. We are relentless in tackling hard technical challenges in our pursuit to build the world’s first quantum repeater. As a quantum research engineer, you will be responsible for the design, validation, and test of color centers in diamond. You will build experimental lab setups to test and characterize our diamond chips. Your creativity and commitment to shipping a world class quantum repeater will be expected when creating designs and solutions to increase the rate and fidelity of entanglement generation. You will work on a cross functional team to analyze system designs and tradeoffs, and to develop new techniques for testing from lab bench to fully packaged product. RESPONSIBILITIES - Apply optics and photonics knowledge to design, validate and test diamond color centers - Lead optics testing by building laboratory infrastructure and automated test setups using off the shelf components - Develop new techniques for testing devices from lab bench to fully packaged product - Analyze and share data output from test setups - Define key performance metrics and figure of merits for color center performance to achieve target rates and fidelity - Collaborate with team to analyze system designs and tradeoffs of different color center designs - Support engineering by providing recommendations for technical development, improvements and optimization of quantum memory QUALIFICATIONS - 4+ years of research and hands-on laboratory experience in physics, quantum optics, or related engineering discipline - Proficiency in planning, assembling, and testing optical test setups using off the shelf components (e.g., lasers, detectors, filters, spectrum analyzers) - Proficiency in operating electrical laboratory equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, RF electronics, waveform generators) - Experience in programming laboratory equipment - Experience in performing data analysis PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS - 6+ years of research experience in physics, quantum optics, or related engineering discipline - Proficiency in testing and measuring solid-state defects in crystallographic structures - Experience in optical testing at low, cryogenic temperatures - Experience in building optical laboratory infrastructure from scratch - Experience on a team that has shipped a product - Strong organizational, communication and documentation skills - Experience simulating nanostructures using analytical or computational methods such as FDTD - Experience with custom design and prototyping methods such as 3D CAD, PCB design, microcontroller programming Contact Info: |
