Breakthroughs in Laser Bar Component Packaging & Self-Cooled Laser Diode Arrays

Abstract:  Laser Diode Arrays continue to gain momentum as a versatile, cost-effective, reliable solution for a wide variety of existing and emerging illumination and pumping applications.  In order to meet these growing demands, designers find themselves faced with three challenges: reducing system size, improving user serviceability, and managing cost.  This paper will address both these issues and will highlight OSRAM Opto Semiconductors’ advancements in providing solutions to these challenges.

 

Biography:  Sevugan Nagappan is a product marketing manager for OSRAM Opto Semiconductors’ Infrared Business Unit.  In this position, Mr. Nagappan is involved in all North American Infrared product marketing and business strategy development.  A native of Penang, Malaysia, Mr. Nagappan began his career in 1997 as a product engineer with Seimens Semiconductors in Penang.  In 2002, he joined OSRAM Opto Semiconductors and has devoted his efforts in the area of infrared product engineering and marketing.


Mr. Nagappan is an active member in the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras, India and an MBA from the Mendoza College of Business at University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.
