Abstract:  Advancements in imaging theory and algorithms are changing the nature of imaging technology and detectors.  Super resolution techniques allow for performance improvement when limited pixel array sizes are available and compressive sensing techniques are introducing completely new approaches such as the single pixel camera.  Recent experimental demonstrations taking advantage of these approaches will be presented to give insight into the benefits and limitations provided by these techniques.

Biography:  Dr. Robin Dawson is a Principal Member of Technical Staff at Draper.  He has delivered high performance systems into numerous markets including space, semiconductor, automotive and consumer.  He has deep expertise in imaging system development, imaging algorithms, sensor performance, and imaging experimentation.  He completed his undergraduate studies in EECS at Princeton University and completed his Ph.D. in EE at The Pennsylvania State University in University Park, PA.  After completing graduate studies, Dr. Dawson designed active matrix back planes for displays, developed solid state imagers and led programs delivering imaging and display based systems.
